The Springs was amazing. What a gorgeous facility. Everywhere we went the
staff were friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed the golf, too. Only a few sprinkles of rain, and that was at
Cariari, and presented no problems--did not last even 2
holes. Pretty darn hot to play golf in Guanacaste, but the
golf courses were very nice and we could find breezes as
needed. Tamarindo was also fun, as was the catamaran sailing
adventure. And the Four Seasons golf course was beyond
beautiful. Very nice golf course. They had just punched the
greens, and they were letting them grow, so they were slow.
But what views!
I wanted to say thank you for all your arrangements. Also thank you for
your gift bag with all the goodies from Costa Rica Golf

we will return to Costa Rica sometime soon.

The Rio Tropicales whitewater rafting trip down the Pacuare River was a

Costa Rica Golf Adventures was over the top Fantastic in helping us plan
our Golf Trip AND Vacation to Costa Rica.
Landy Blank and his wife, Susan, researched, set up and coordinated
almost everything for us. Plus, they saved us money! They
arranged transportation, T Times, hotels, excursions, etc.
And they used their discounts at several of the golf courses
and hotels to pass on savings to us.
They were extremely responsive and communicative. We always knew what was
happening and what to expect. They saved us from various
pitfalls that travelers to unknown countries may fall prey
(like the mandatory insurance cost on a rental cost being
more than the rental cost of the car!).
They acted much more like friends trying to arrange the best experience
for us - as opposed to an impersonal broker or an agent.
They spent a lot of time tailoring our activities and
coordinating our schedule to our unique travel desires -
even arranging mid-trip changes to our itinerary. On top of
all that, they provided above and beyond personal service
for us - dining with us, transporting us, providing us a
goodie bag, and most significantly taking care of my
significant other who had a sudden medical issue, etc. etc.
AAAAAA++++++++++ Best golf or
travel agent experience I have had in my life!
Not only would I recommend them to anyone, I would say that if you are
interested in having any component of your trip to Costa
Rica involve golf, you would be crazy not to contact Landy.
In fact, as Landy handles other excursions in Costa Rica, so
I would contact him for any travel I was doing in Costa

I've now been back in the states for about a week and I thought I'd reach
out and thank you for everything you did to help make our
time away enjoyable.
We enjoyed both the courses you arranged for us to play. Also, thanks for
the recommendation to play Conchal twice - it was beautiful.
I will say, we enjoyed the greens more so at Pinilla, as
they were a little more challenging, but no regrets. The
transportation you arranged was also great - Paul, Danielle,
and the gang from XPlore were very accommodating. Each day
they were prompt and we never had a concern.
At the end of the day, I don't think it could have gone any smoother. We
considered picking up a fourth round while there, but opted
for a day at the beach.
We will definitely be back and will call on you. Thank you again - from
the recommendations, to booking the tee times, to arranging
the transportation. We sincerely appreciate it!

We both enjoyed it very much. We will be back.
Things we loved:
- The people. They are
warm and friendly. We felt very safe and welcome.
- Of course, the whole

liked most was the Cariari Country Club course.
- Montana del Fuego was
very nice and relaxing. The rooms and grounds were
beautiful. The tour guide on the hanging bridges tour

life in Costa Rica.
- The Westin Resort is
fabulous. The food was great and all the employees

little more casual than we expected and hotter also.

of relaxation at the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort. From
the time we arrived at the Liberian airport to departure, we

overlooking a lake and the golf course. The
transfer/transportation group (Denise and her company Xplore

knowledgeable regarding Costa Rica’s history and geography

Thank you both for all your help, we loved all of the parts of our trip.
We felt very comfortable knowing that Landy was an email or

reputation around Guanacaste, and I'm guessing Susan
deserves a lot of the credit. The sunset cruise was a great
addition and our crew was especially nice, they bent over
backward to make sure that we had everything that we needed.
Denise must run a very good operation as our transfers/guides, Eugene,
William and Alex, were all timely, protective and very
pleasant. Alex was very cheery after a very long day taking
us back to the Paradisus. Please pass our thanks on to
Denise if you would.
The Four Seasons turned out to be spectacular and we played
well, but Chandler and I were very happy that we were
staying at the Paradisus, much more manageable size with
lots of variety. We loved the evening shows, with a little
nightcap or two. The (sort of) Royal "Service" needs a
little help but I'm guessing that the Westin will change all
of that. We loved our villa close to the ocean but I have a
feeling that if you are part of the Royal Service you should
probably stay in one of the 2 towers within the Royal
And BTW: The gift bags were great and I still have some of
the golf balls that you surprised us with, but Chandler is
still wondering about those damn purple trees.

to the country they have simply pulled up roots and
relocated. Blank is one of those gringos who got in close to
the ground floor. A native Pennsylvanian and former
defensive back at North Carolina in the 1960's, Blank and
his wife Susan fell in love with the country during their
visits there in the early 1990's. With his contacts in the
golf industry, the incredible landscapes, the
gringo-friendly environment, the existing courses, and the
knowledge that several large companies had already planned
golf destinations for the country led him to believe there
was a market that needed promotion. And he and his wife were
just the team to get it done. Blank's company (www.golfcr.com,
877-536-8510) is sort of a one-stop shop for golf tourists
considering a junket to Costa Rica. He won't personally be
with you every step of the way as he was while serving as my
host, but he or a member of his staff is a phone call away.
And, because I was able to spend quality time with Blank
while he served as my national golf tour guide, I saw with
my own eyes that he has the knowledge, power and connections
to fulfill nearly any travel request and to clear away any
Costa Rica - A Land
Discovered Waiting To Be Revealed
With the popularity of golf emerging in Costa Rica, there are bound to be
a growing number so-called "experts." Costa Rica is a small
country but one in which you can easily be misguided unless

"People in the golf business don't want to hear this," says Landy Blank,
an American expatriate who makes his living here selling
golf equipment and arranging golf tours, "but I want people
to come here, enjoy what Costa Rica has to offer, and play a
little golf." You don't have to worry about being hustled
all the time," Blank says of Costa Rican hospitality. "You
don't have to put up with that. It's not part of the culture

Costa Rica's golf industry is still in its formative stages, making it
comparable to that of Puerto Rico 50 years ago. That is not
to say golf in Costa Rica is not outstanding. There are only
six 18-hole golf courses in the entire country and all of
them meet world class standards for quality of routing,
maintenance and turf conditions, according to Landy Blank,
founder of Costa Rica Golf Adventures Travel, the leading
golf tour operator and golf equipment distributor in the
country. Attractive packages which include lower course fees

knows the ins and outs of the country.

In Pursuit of Pura Vida
The unspoiled beauty of Costa Rica extends beyond the rain forests and
volcanoes to the virtual nonexistence of addresses.
Directions often sound something like, "The restaurant is
three hundred meters south of the church that burned down
five years ago." How to proceed? You can work with your
hotel's concierge or call ahead. A better bet: Enlist a tour
operator, such as Costa Rica Golf Adventures. CRGA will
arrange all accommodations, golf itineraries and activities.

Costa Rica: Golf on the Wild Side
By Dale Leatherman, Links Magazine, Nov. 2002
"There are dozens of great locations for a golf vacation but few
galleries can match ours,” says Blank, who has seen a
ten-fold increase in the number of golf and adventure trips
his company arranges. “It's a bit like playing golf in the
zoo, with howler monkeys, sloths and other creatures
watching you from the jungle. The courses are world-class,
you are surrounded by natural beauty, and the non-golf
activities are as good as any in the world. When you mix in
the warmth and hospitality of the Costa Rican people, you
have the ingredients for a extraordinary golf experience."
